Winter Wedding | The Tinsmith | Madison, Wisconsin
Two things that Hayley was excited for on her wedding day were seeing Rory for the first time, and hopefully getting a little snow to make their Tinsmith wedding in Madison feel extra whimsical. To her delight, she got both! As for Rory, aside from being reunited with loved ones, I don’t know that anything was more important than marrying his best friend.
From day one, the two described their vision for their wedding day as authentic and relaxed. It was important to them to experience the emotions of the day and celebrate those feelings with their loved ones. They chose us as their photographers because they knew they needed someone to make them feel comfortable. They wanted someone they could trust to hold space for them who would be able to capture candid moments they’ll cherish forever. We graciously accepted, and looked forward to spending such a special day with them.
The Wedding Day
Just as they had planned, their day was relaxed, intentional and emotional. With the help of her mom and sister, Hayley created her own wedding flowers. Some were hand painted, others made from book pages, and each carefully placed throughout the venue. It was a really special touch and bonding point. When we arrived, the girls were relaxing in the bridal suite with the guys already dressed and ready to go!
Hayley and Rory maintained a good balance of excitement for their first look, and enjoyment of their separate time with their wedding party. While Hayley put on her finishing touches, Rory took a few moments with his groomsmen to share with each of them why he had chosen them to stand by his side. He and his best man had been friends since little on, and it was really sweet to see the support from all of the guys that morning.
After a first look in the solarium, the two were all smiles, laughter, and playful dance moves. With a lot of happy energy, and a handful of nerves, they enjoyed the rest of the morning with their wedding party and immediate families before guests arrived for their ceremony. Writing their own vows gave the two of them an opportunity to express their deepest feelings and greatest excitements about their journey. Guests switched from laughing at their jokes, to crying at their carefully chosen words. Hayley had the biggest smile throughout, and I don’t know that Rory’s eyes ever left her.
The Reception
Following the ceremony, the newlyweds enjoyed classic Old Fashioneds while greeting loved ones with a receiving line. They mingled during their full cocktail hour before making their grand entrance as husband and wife through the solarium doors! The smell of Blue Plate’s pasta bar had guests in their seats right on time. Much like the rest of their day, the evening went on with plenty of time spent together and alongside their favorite people. Those playful dance moves finally found their way out to the dance floor, only stopping for cheesecake and late night snacks!
It was a beautiful evening with plenty of time carved out for the two of them to soak it all in. With an incredible team of vendors supporting their vision, both Hayley and Rory shared that it was exactly as they’d hoped it would be.
