We are kicking off fall with an adventurous engagement session at Devil’s Lake! The gorgeous bluffs and wide open beach front we’re the perfect spots for Kaitlynn and William to get snuggly and celebrate!
Kaitlynn and William have to be two of the most trusting and adventurous people we’ve ever met. After driving over 6 hours for their engagement session, they left their phones in the car and followed Dave and I 30 minutes up the Bluff of Devil’s Lake- a place that they had never been. We lead them on a hike that was a little harder than we remembered, and Kaitlynn did it will while in heels! Aside from a few winded comments about how much each of our thighs we’re burning, these two were nothing but laughs and smiles along the way. Talk about an adventurous engagement session!
Their love for exploring doesn’t even compare to their love of one another. When we first chatted about what it is that makes their relationship so special, William’s response stuck with me. He said “she makes me feel safe and solid and whenever I’m around her I just have this overwhelming feeling of joy and appreciation for what we have together!”
So safe, that he was willing to embark on the most adventurous engagement session we’ve had, to date. Not only did the soon to be newlyweds hike the bluff in dress clothes, but they also decided to get in the lake after sunset! Kaitlynn’s motto was ‘we only get to do this once” and Will happily supported her.
As the sun dipped below the trees, these two kept on splashing, laughing and adventuring with each other. There were so many kisses that lingered long after I had prompted them to do so, and so many moments of fun in between.
Kaitlynn has spent several years dancing, so she was down for every spin, dip and lift I asked for. She somehow looked completely graceful while running through sand, and I don’t think I ever saw that smile leave her face.
These two are planning their celebration on a private beach in Lake Michigan next year. We can’t wait to visit THEM and see what the next adventure brings!
