When I first met Jamilee she told me that the thing she loves most about Steve is that he makes her life easy, fun and simple. Keeping that, along with their shared love of the outdoors in mind, we headed to Devil’s Lake to capture some playful engagement photos.
Jamilee is a landscape architect and she spent many of her childhood years visiting the Dells! As they began to plan their wedding together, she searched for a venue with a non-traditional vibe. They really wanted to be outdoors, and even explored a few campgrounds. However, after considering the size of their guest list, and the experience they wanted to provide, they landed on the Monte Bello Estate . The beautiful landscaping made it a pretty easy pick, and they knew their loved ones would be well attended. They still wanted that simple outdoorsy feel for their engagement photos though, which is how we ended up at Devil’s Lake!
Both of them knew they wanted to hit the beach for a few fun shots, but the rest of the agenda was up to us. Knowing the views and rock formations were unlike anything they had back home in Illinois, we suggested a hike up to Balanced Rock! For those of you unfamiliar with the area, it’s a short but difficult trek up what can best be described as a goat path. The hike is just shy of a half mile, but it’s steep and narrow and can take a while to reach. Now imagine doing that in dress shoes or formal attire! They did it though, and I think it’s safe to say they even had fun.
That was my favorite part of our time with them, it was clear that whenever they are together they prioritize fun. Surely I’m a little biased, but these photos are the perfect representation of the things she loves most!And as for Steve, I think as long as his girl is smiling and laughing, he’s perfectly content.
Thank you both for an evening of good company, a little cardio, and a chance to get to know you a whole lot better. We can’t wait to join you and all your loved ones in less than a year!!
