Alex and Alexa’s June wedding at the Field’s Reserve in Stoughton, WI was everything they had hoped for, calm, classy, and filled with time to catch up with loved ones.

When Alex and Alexa reached out asking me to document their Field’s Reserve wedding, they shared with me the things that mattered to them most that day. They wanted to spend time with their guests, and be able to have fun in a relaxed environment. Golden hour photos were an absolute must, and in order to maximize their time together on their wedding day, they hoped for a first look as well.

The Morning at The Field’s Reserve

While the girls finished up at the salon, their team of vendors was hard at work setting up their beautiful space with a classic green, white and blue color palette. They really brought out the beauty of the venue by keeping things simple. White florals scattered throughout popped against the wood grain of the Field’s Reserve, and a grand mirror at the entrance tied in perfectly with the venue’s chandeliers.

As the girls made their way into the bridal suite, everyone’s energy was calm and relaxed. With champagne in hand, and matching pj sets, they began prepping for the day ahead. Meanwhile David joined the groomsmen to sort out how to tie a bow tie and properly put on a boutonnière.

Since spending time together was a priority to them, they opted for a first look. It was a sweet and private moment filled with tears, giddy hugs, and so much excitement. Not only did this offer them the opportunity to spend most of the day together, it also freed up time to take family formals before as well.

By the time they headed back in side to prepare for their ceremony, the majority of their photos had already been captured and they were able to relax at the bar with their party.

The Ceremony

As guests filled into the ceremony barn, the music began. When Alexa made her way down the aisle. everyone turned as they often do- except Alex’s mom Brenda. I caught a glimpse of her looking up at her son. She looked proud and at peace. Even though he had already seen his bride moments before, Alex’s eyes were filled with joy once again. An old friend of Alex’s officiated with a short and heartfelt ceremony, and officially announced the new Mr. and Mrs. Moss! With smiles on their faces, and all of the pre-wedding jitters completely gone, they greeted guests outside with a receiving line and sent them on their way to the reception barn to enjoy cocktail hour.

Cocktail Hour and Reception

With all of their formal photos already complete, Alex and Alexa made their way inside to enjoy a full cocktail hour with guests. That quality time was exactly what they had hoped for, and all around everyone was happy. As they munched on caprese bites and risotto puffs, full drinks in hand- the room felt like one big happy reunion.

Alex’s mom Brenda welcomed guests with a speech that brought many to tears. She talked about kissing scraped knees as a boy and the joy of watching him discover his passions for the outdoors. What meant the most, was when she spoke to the care and compassion that she admired so dearly about Alexa, and how meeting her made Alex’s life complete.

As the speeches continued, so did the sentiment. Alexa’s baby sister Ciera and Matron of Honor thanked her for the many years of advice on all things fashion, skin care, and life growing up. Having already been married herself, she turned to her older sister to let her know that if she ever had questions about navigating marriage, that she would be there to finally offer her advice in exchange. Everyone in that room would be, because each and every one of those guests was there to support them and watch them grow.

After drying their eyes, everyone sat down to enjoy dinner. Guests had their choice of short ribs, chicken, or fish. As always, Blue Plate Catering knocked it out of the park. Multiple people around us were raving over their food, and everyone was talking about how gorgeous their cake was. Instead of a traditional wedding cake, they went with a fun layered bundt cake which was so fun! To top it off, the pair served coffee and even cuter mini bundt cakes to their guets.

Not long after, they opened up the dance floor. Their DJ had everyone out on their feet! While guests danced the night away, we snuck them outside for one final round of portraits. They had been most excited for these, golden hour photos! While each part of their day was special, nothing quite compared to the way they melted into one another during those photos. My favorite part of those photos is Alexa’s happy giggle, and the look in Alex’s eyes.

To the new Mr. and Mrs. Moss, thank you! Thank you for allowing us to tell your story, for inviting us to be surrounded by the ones you love most, and for opening your lives up to us. We hope you enjoy your mini honeymoon, and cannot wait to see where your life heads next!
