A beautiful maternity session with spring blooms at the University of Wisconsin-Arboretum for John and Jolene…
What better way to celebrate the start of a new life, than with spring blooms at the UW Arboretum? As John and Jolene prepare to start their journey as a family of three, I was touched to share time with them documenting this transition.
I always ask my clients to reflect on their current season of life, and how they feel in it. By sharing those details with me, they get the most out of their session and the story their photos tell. John and Jolene wanted to remember the love they felt for each other in this moment. Welcoming a baby into the household is an emotional rollercoaster. They come from families with young children so they have seen that first hand. In moments when their relationship is tested by lack of sleep and piles of laundry, I hope photos remind them of the love and strength that is between them.
As we strolled through the spring blooms at the UW Arboretum, I watched the way they interacted with one another. John helped her put on her shoes, she leaned into him as she walked over uneven ground, and when either of them needed reassurance, they looked to each-other. Their energy was calm and relaxed, (although eager to meet their little one). They make such an incredible team and I know already, how deeply their babe will be loved.
One of my favorite parts of the night was just watching them compliment one another, and just be together. I can see how much peace and happiness John has brought to Jolene’s life. The way he supports and encourages her is exactly what any new mom would hope for. Jo, brings balance into John’s life. She makes him laugh, leans into his hobbies, and dreams right alongside him. I’ve watched them parent their tiny zoo of animals, and I’ve never met more spoiled and well behaved pups in my life. I’ve also had the pleasure of seeing them interact with my own son, and I can see that it’s natural to them. They are already confident parents without even realizing it.
