I am still swooning over the fact that Tyler and Evelyn surprised me with a vintage car at their wedding last weekend! It made their portraits so much fun, and added a unique twist to their day. With the bridesmaids dressed in my favorite shade of green, the groomsmen up for any adventure, and beautiful fresh floral bouquets- this summer wedding was one to remember!
The Venue
Tyler and Evelyn chose The Barn at Vertical Timbers as their wedding venue. They were intrigued by the fieldstone foundation, hand hewn beams, and early 1850s architecture. While the girls got ready in the hen house, the guys were able to hang out and stay cool in the Fieldstone Gathering. It’s a unique spot in the basement that puts most man caves to shame! Their ceremony space was a beautiful open green spot with weeping willows scattered throughout. Across the driveway, guests could walk to the barn and enjoy cocktail hour and the reception without ever having to get in their cars!
The Morning Of
Tyler and Evelyn chose to wait until the ceremony to see one another, so they spent their mornings separate. With Tyler in the man cave, and Evelyn across the property this was no problem. This gave each of them quality time with their wedding parties. It also allowed Evelyn a little extra time for a very special first look with her Mom. Their sweet daughter Sophia also got to spend the morning alongside mom and her favorite aunties! While the bride is usually the center of attention on her wedding day, little Soph gave Evelyn a run for her money.
The Ceremony
Guests began arriving for their late afternoon ceremony, and as I checked in with each of them they both were filled with excitement. Evelyn was looking forward to Tyler’s reaction, and Tyler just could not wait to finally marry his best friend. As she made her way down the aisle, Evelyn had both her mom and her groom in tears. They exchanged traditional vows and chose a knot tying unity ceremony. Afterwards they dismissed guests row by row to enjoy a few moments of conversation with all of their loved ones.
Wedding Portraits with The Vintage Car
Since they had not opted for a first look, all of their wedding party portraits and family formals were taken after the ceremony. It was hot and muggy so I promised everyone we would be wrapped up by 5pm, and we managed to pull it off! In just over an hour we completed all of the family formals, individual and combined wedding party pictures, and my all time favorite, couples portraits. I was surprised with a vintage car for their wedding photos and I loved every bit of it.
The Reception
After a sunny and warm day with guests, everyone made their way to the barn for the afterparty. Their wedding party had a blast during the grand march, passing off shots and beer funnels to one another. Everyone calmed down for the heartfelt toasts and speeches, and enjoyed one another’s company with a family style meal. After the first dances had ended, Evelyn’s brother surprised her with one dance for just the two of them. I had been pretty good about not being too emotional, but that moment got me. It was so sweet to see him twirl his sister around the dance floor, and it was even sweeter to watch Tyler admire her from afar as she spun. The fun continued as they cut their cake, and tore up the dance floor. At one point we were experiencing sever thunderstorms, but nobody seemed to mind because they all were having too much fun.
Tyler and Evelyn, thank you so much for allowing us to be part of your day. We wish you years of adventure and fun with each other! I can’t wait to see you both again for your milestone session!
