Token Creek Park is a beautiful location for an engagement session. It’s not too busy and there’s no major distractions. There’s a lot of creamy dreamy golden light, tall grasses and spots to get cozy with one another! It is one of my all time favorite Madison area portrait spots. It was perfect for Tannor and Desiree’s engagement session!

Tannor and Desiree are an easy going, sweet, mindful couple. They have spent the past four years together enjoying camping adventures, coffee dates and long walks in nature. They decided on a lifetime with each other this past year when Tannor proposed on a walk surrounded by their friends.

In getting to know the two, I asked what it is about each other that they love most. Without any hesitation, Desiree shared how much she loves Tannor’s heart. She describes him as the guy who would literally give the shirt off of his back to a complete stranger. She loves his strong will to make an impact on those he meets. Dave and I felt that impact almost instantaneously at their engagement session. We greeted the pair with huge hugs, and immediately Tannor said he wanted to take a moment to express his gratitude. He thanked us for us being a part of their journey, and getting to know them. His words were so genuine and intentional. We felt completely honored and humbled. Sometimes it baffles me how lucky we are to not only meet such kind people, but to help plan and preserve their most meaningful milestones.

As the evening carried on, I witnessed first hand how much love and respect the two have for one another. The way they spoke to one another, the way they interacted, and even how they bounced back and forth telling stories made me so excited to be in their presence. We connected over our mutual love of tasty food, and Desiree and I’s indecisiveness when ordering from a menu. They told us about their daily lives, their future goals- and by the end of the night we felt like we had known them all along.

I asked them why they had chosen Dave and I as their wedding photographers, their responses lit up my heart. They shared that they could feel the passion in our photos, and that our kindness and genuine care was something they wanted on their wedding day, and as a part of their story. I’ve heard the word “passion” a lot this year. So many brides and family members sent sweet notes or messages about how it is so abundantly clear that we love what we do. For some reason though, hearing Desiree and Tannor talk about how much that passion meant to THEM, made it all sink in a little deeper. We are passionate, and it’s because of people like Tannor and Desiree. This “work” really is such a gift, and I cannot thank them enough for allowing us to give it.

Tannor and Desiree, we cannot wait to see you both in October!
