One of the greatest gifts a venue can give, is to allow their couples to take their engagement photos on the property. This is not something every venue can or will offer. Luckily, it is something Pioneer Creek Farm offered to Parker and Kari before their upcoming wedding. I love this for so many reasons. The most important reason is that it builds more excitement and confidence in our couples.
The Venue
When Kari and Parker asked if we would meet them at Pioneer Creek Farm for their engagement session, we happily agreed! We had never been to the property before, but we knew how excited these two were to host their May wedding there. We felt so lucky to get a sneak peek of their venue. The owner, Devonne greeted us as we arrived. We immediately fell in love with all that she had to offer. The property is beautifully landscaped and there are so many unique features like a rustic truck, paddleboat and live animals! I was geeking out over all of the locations that we’d get to use on their big day. I am really excited about the gorgeous grass area with llamas. Rumor has it, they know to run up to brides for photos! Um, yes please!
Their Engagement Session
We started with their chocolate lab Nova in tow. By now, it should be no surprise that we love dogs and always welcome them at engagement sessions. I mean seriously, just look at how cute she is! There were so many bloopers and photos that made all of us laugh. Parker and Kari knew that she would have a short window of cooperation, so they thought ahead and invited their family to join us. After Nova finished, she could head home early! The rest of the night we were able to focus on these two which was perfect.
I always ask couples how they are feeling about their session in the beginning. Parker isn’t the biggest fan of photos, but shared that he wanted Kari to be happy. Kari on the other hand, was excited- but was nervous about looking awkward. Within a few minutes of shooting, they both were already at ease. Their connection was far from awkward and we all genuinely had fun. While we were photographing the two, I could not stop laughing and smiling at the way they interacted. Kari’s smile is so contagious! When I got home and started editing, it was the way Parker looked at her in nearly every image that truly gave me the feels. She is clearly his home.
Why they chose Pioneer Creek Farm
As we made our way around the farm, Kari and I chatted about her vision for the wedding day. She shared with me that they had toured other venues, but as soon as they arrived here, Parker’s face lit up. Then she knew it was “the place”. It is important to the both of them that their guests feel comfortable and at ease. With the venue’s spacious walking grounds, yard games and gorgeous pond that guest can fish in- it’s the perfect spot. It made me so happy to hear that they had found something that fit them so well, and one that made BOTH of them excited. Dave and I cannot wait to return here with them in May, but for now- check out some of our favorite images from their Pioneer Creek Farm engagement session!
