Looking to add a little fun to your wedding day? Consider a fun ceremony exit, or evening send off. It’s important to make sure that you check with your venue and coordinator first, as rules may vary, but with this list of 20 Fun Exit Ideas for your Wedding Day, surely one will stick!

Fun Wedding Day Exit Ideas That are Safe for Outdoors

1. Bubbles

Leave a little bottle on each chair at your ceremony space and enjoy the sweet whimsy of walking through bubbles as you exit! In order for this to create a great photo, guests need to be pretty close to you and you’ll need to wait for the bubbles to start filling the space before exiting! A great alternative to this is to recreate the shot with just your wedding party afterwards!

2. Dried Flowers or Herbs

Lavender is the most popular but feel free to get creative here! Not only will this smell wonderful, it’s a great eco-friendly option that is also very elegant.

3. Rose Petals

Similarly, rose petals provide a good smelling and easy to clean up option. Since they are larger, they tend to photograph a bit better than smaller dried florals.

4. Plantable Confetti

Did you know that they make confetti with seedlings that turn to flowers in it? Amazing right! Not only is this larger and great for photos, it’s also an incredible symbol of a new beginning. This would be an incredible option for anyone getting married on private property!

5. Bird Seed

What a fun way to exit your ceremony AND feed the birds! Just be sure to do this in the day time so the birds have time to clean it up for you before dark!

6. Leaves

Planning a fall wedding? Gather small bundles of leaves for a colorful and sustainable exit. If you want to get really fancy, you can even make your own confetti out of the leaves using hole punches or craft scissors. This can also be a great task to occupy littles the morning of or during rehearsal dinner!

7. Artificial Snow

What would be more magical than a snow covered winter exit? Just be sure to use something that is biodegradable and clear it with your venue first.

8. Ribbon Wands

Make this playful with colorful ribbons or keep it classy with neutral tones. Either way, they will add a fun flair to your exit photos!

9. Handkerchief Toss

Knock out your party favors and exit photos in one swoop. Custom handkerchiefs placed on each guests chair is a fun way to help mom wipe away her tears while you say I do and allows your guests to bring home a small token. Before you exit, ask your officiant to announce that everyone toss or twirl their handkerchief in the air after you say I do!

10. Getaway Car

Want to really make an exit? Have a fun getaway car (or boat or bike) waiting for you as you leave! You can rent old cars for this occasion. It also makes for some fun portraits if you’re lucky enough to snag one for the day!

11. Popcorn

This fun option can be used after the ceremony, but is even more fun when saved for the reception. Package your popcorn in small baggies and allow your guests to line up and shake or pour it out as you walk through the line! Stick to plain popcorn if you don’t want to risk staining your dress or creating a greasy mess on the floor.

12. Champagne Shower

If you don’t mind getting a little sticky, this is such a fun way to end the evening. Just be sure to do it outdoors, or have someone ready to mop right after to avoid any slips or disasters.

13. Sparklers

A classic exit that offers such fun shots. Pro tip- opt for the longer wand sparklers so you have more time and be sure to plan this for after the sun has set.

14. Glow- Sticks

If your venue doesn’t allow fire (or if you’re just nervous about the sparks) glow sticks are a great alternative! They are fun and playful and can be ordered in a variety of colors. Plus, if you have kids at your wedding this is a great way for them to be involved as well.

15. Firework Show

If you really want to end the night with a bang, coordinate a firework show. This is such a fun way to get guests outside. For added fun, opt for s’mores and encourage people to sit and enjoy the show.

Ideas Better Suited for Indoor Spaces

16. Confetti Poppers

This is one of the most popular fun exit ideas for your wedding day, specifically your ceremony exit and it’s as simple as a quick pass with the broom to clean up.

17. Giant Sprinkles

Looking for something a little more playful? These will add a bit of goofiness to your day and the bigger they are the easier they are to clean up! Plus, the larger size will create a better photo op.

18. Giant Glitter or Sequins

While you could opt for standard size, the larger ones will photograph so much better! This is a great way to add some fun while also keeping the exit classy.

19. Silly String

If you want to get really silly, this is the way to go! Just make sure that the string you choose does not stain. Remember, silly string can be a little wet so it’s probably best to save this for the reception when most of your photos are finished.

20. Balloons

Choose between a balloon drop with regular balloons or a balloon release with helium filled ones. Either way, just make sure someone is available to pop and clean them up at the end of the night!
