When Gaby and I connected over Instagram she shared with me her excitement for her growing family! I was so happy for her, and touched that she was considering me to document such a beautiful milestone in her life. I shared with Gaby a bit about my process, and walked her through my styling tips and recommendations. After spending some time getting to know her vision, we landed on a winter session just after the holidays at Kohler Andrae State Park!
Her and her sweet daughter arrived in the most adorable outfits, excited to embrace the cold and make memories together. It was FREEZING that afternoon, and there was snow and ice everywhere, but their excitement outweighed everything. We took our time walking the pathways until we found the perfect spot where they could be out of the wind. We spent a few minutes talking through poses and movements and then when the girls felt ready they tossed their coats to the side and perfectly executed everything we had just rehearsed. Their connection was so sweet, and I could feel the love all the way from where I was standing tucked in the pine trees.
We spent less than 30 minutes out there (I normally shoot quickly as it is, but when the weather is harsh all we really need is 15 minutes to create a gallery you’ll love). Afterwards we all exchanged a big warm hug and hurried off to our heated cars. As I let myself warm up, I quickly scrolled through the back of my camera and squealed in delight at the magic we had just created. See for yourself…
