Summer Wedding at Devil’s Head Resort | Merrimac, WI
Mickala and Duncan started their next big adventure together at the base of Devil’s Head Resort. Surrounded by their favorite people, they shared private vows, happy tears, and a commitment to spend the rest of their lives prioritizing one another. Their day was filled with special little moments that showcased the relationships they value most.
In the spirit of tradition, Mickala and Duncan waited until their ceremony to see one another. This gave each of them extra time to be intentional with their wedding party, and immediate families. It also allowed for one on one time with their parents. Mickala opted for a first look with her Dad, an emotional moment where the love and pride for his daughter was palpable. I asked her parents separately what they most admired about Mickala and their responses mirrored one another. Each of them spoke of her determination, resilience, and strong will. Duncan’s loved ones shared stories of him as a young trouble maker, but beneath the laughter and teasing, excitement and confidence peaked through.
Their day felt peaceful, where moments of connection were embraced. As Mickala made her way down the aisle with her dad she took her time. When her mom jumped in to adjust her dress just before giving her away, Duncan just beamed ear to ear- waiting patiently until it was time to collect his bride. They laughed with one another lighting their unity candle, and let bits of their personalities show throughout. Perhaps one of the sweetest candid moments of their day was immediately following their ceremony. Just as they got to the end of the aisle Mickala leapt into Duncan’s arms. Telling him how handsome he looked and how much she loved him looked like a normal interaction between them, and the joyful and content look on his face solidified that.
When guests made their way back to the reception, they were surprised with hand written thank you letters at each place setting. They picked up custom sunglasses and sipped on signature drinks. While they waited for dinner they could play yard games, flip through photos of Mickala and Duncan’s engagement (a Polaroid for each day they were engaged), or take a Polaroid photo of their own! Before they could grab their dinner plates they were tasked with taking a photo with the newlyweds and each group had their own creative idea!
After dinner, Mickala surprised her mom with the most thoughtful gesture. At most weddings it’s the father of the bride that get’s all of the special moments. Dad gets the first look, to walk her down the aisle, and to make the toast. To help honor her mom and their relationship, Mickala had a small bouquet woven in to hers. A bouquet she carried with her through each of those moments, and then some. During a special toast just to mom, Mickala separated the mini bouquet from hers and gifted it to mom.
The rest of the evening was spent on the dance floor, exactly how they wanted. Couples young and old made their way out. They continued celebrating and having a good time with all the people who supported their journey and made their day special. The room was filled with happiness and excellent dance moves, and their night ended on the perfect note.
Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Seidel for letting us document beautiful day! Wishing you both a marriage filled with more epic adventures.
