Intimate Wedding | Harvest Moon Pond | Poynette WI
When trying to describe Rick and Teresa’s intimate wedding day at Harvest Moon Pond, the three words that come to mind are; intentional, joyful, and affectionate. Their day was overflowing with love. Not just the kind shared between each other, but a love that makes two families one.
From the beginning of their planning, we knew that this day would be intimate. Rick and Teresa wanted their celebration to emphasize quality over quantity. Everything from the cake flavors and decor, to the individuals in attendance were hand picked by two of them. Keeping things cozy, they were able to put extra time into the small touches, making everything and everyone feel special.
Standing by their sides were two of their children, but getting ready that morning was a whole family affair! So many sweet moments were shared to celebrate the joining of two families, and to honor the loved ones who are no longer with them. Unable to share a first look with her late father, Teresa decided to experience that special moment with her eldest son Mark. He had been chatty all morning, but the moment Mark saw his momma he was speechless. After taking in all her beauty, it was his turn to wow her. He did so by showing her his custom tractor cufflinks, a homage to his late pops. She was beautiful, and so was that moment.
The day just kept getting sweeter. After giving the kids another squeeze, Teresa made her way out towards the willows. Rick patiently waited on the other side of the wooden gate for their first touch. This was a moment they had both been looking forward to. They were able to take a breath together, exchange personal vows, and still maintain the excitement and anticipation of seeing one another at the ceremony. Together they reflected on the love they had built, and squeezed hands with happy tears slipping down their cheeks and relief that this much awaited day was now here.
Their ceremony was filled with a few tears and a lot of laughter. They chose a glass unity where each, they and their five children, poured a different color of glass crystals together. This will later be fused into a permanent sculpture. A beautiful way to honor the blending of their new family who already got along so well! Their dinner was equally as abundant with emotions. Two of their children delivered ardent speeches thanking each of their parents for the impactful role they had played in their lives, and toasting their new bonus parent who made everything complete. They held time and space to honor those who could not be there. Together they delivered a special carrot cake toast to Teresa’s late father. He loved that flavor so much they had special ordered it just for him.
As soon as dinner was cleared, both families were ready to belly up to the bar and bust out their dancing boots! The weather was too perfect to pass up the opportunity for an outdoor first dance! Happily, everyone made their way to the patio. Rick and Teresa already radiate love and joy (see their portraits for proof), but the combination of glowing string lights and a warm fire heightened their romance. All the love was balanced with laughter and fun, as their families spun each other around and danced the evening away. By the end of the night you could hardly tell who was there from which side, as everyone blended together so seamlessly.
Rick and Teresa, we cannot express to you how grateful we are to have shared in such an important day for you and your families. Your relationship with one another is so cherished, and we loved documenting just a sliver of your happiness on this intimate wedding day at Harvest Moon Pond. Cheers to you both (and your loved ones)!
