Parker and Kari’s Modern Barn Wedding
A recap of their relaxed wedding day celebration. The venue, Pioneer Creek Farm in Lomira, offers a beautifully landscaped and elegant space for a modern barn wedding of every midwestern couple’s dreams!
When Parker and Kari set out to plan their day, they had one goal in mind. They wanted to create an atmosphere for their guests that would allow everyone to feel comfortable and relaxed. Above all else- they wanted to have a good time. As they set out to find the perfect venue, they fell in love with Pioneer Creek Farm. A dream venue for a modern barn wedding. It’s rolling hills, beautiful pond, and oak tree bring so much life to the farm. They knew their guests would enjoy feeding the llamas, playing yard games out back, and even fishing in the pond!
The Morning at Pioneer Creek Farm
After being pampered at the salon bright and early, the girls made their way to the venue. There is a modern, all white bridal space to get ready in! While checking in with Kari I was so blown away by her calm, cool and collected energy. She was all smiles, and excitedly said that once we arrived on site it felt like the day was finally starting! Everything moved along right on schedule, and she had so many loving and supportive women helping her prepare for the afternoon ahead. Once she was buttoned into her dress, she made her way to the top of the property to share a special first look with her dad. Though he swore he wouldn’t cry that day, one look at his beautiful baby girl and Rick was in tears. Honestly, we all were. Meanwhile, Parker and his groomsmen hung out near the barn being careful not to catch a glimpse of the breathtaking bride.
The Ceremony on the Pond
Parker and Kari chose a peaceful ceremony location right on the pond. They opted to have their close friend Tyler officiate. As guests arrived and found their seat in the cool shade, the energy was was cheerful and calm. When the ceremony began, Parker escorted his loved ones down the aisle and the happy tears began to flow from all of the moms. As the only boy, and the first to get married, this moment was extra special. Their service was sweet and very personal, with a mixture of laughs and tears all around. Part of choosing a friend to deliver the ceremony was because they wanted their day to feel close and special, and it absolutely was.
Cocktail Hour and Portraits on the Farm
Following the ceremony, guests were escorted up to the barn to enjoy cocktails and nachos on the deck- YUM! There were yard games to play, llamas to feed, and even a few fish to be caught! Everyone enjoyed themselves while we had fun with the wedding party and newlyweds. After popping several bottles of champagne, we ended the hour next to a 170 year old barn where Parker and Kari were given buckets of feed and allowed in the pasture for photos with the llamas. I’m not sure who was more excited, Kari or myself! That was such a unique memory, I think we will always remember it!
Wedding Reception at the Modern Barn
After mingling with their guests, the DJ announced that everyone should make their way to the barn for their grand march. The space was stunning. Chandeliers and string lights hung overhead. Each table was decorated with simple baby’s breath and antique chairs. As their bridal party lined up, they all practiced their entrance moves. They all had guests laughing, but the award for most creative goes to their groomsmen Jordan who had pre-cut his pants to be ripped off into shorts as part of his entrance!
After a series of heartfelt speeches, first dances and more tears, they opened up their dance floor with a game that they played the night of their engagement. The wedding party started with the Rattlin Bog, and guests joined in until the floor was full. Just as they had hoped, everyone was having so much fun! They didn’t even notice as we snuck the newlyweds off for one last round of gorgeous sunset photos on the pond.
At the end of the night when I asked Kari how she felt about her day she said something that will always stick with me, she said shared that the reason she felt so calm (despite being a normally anxious person, is because she realized that the only thing that really mattered to her that day was that she was getting to marry Parker). Someone grab the tissues please, I need them again.
Thank you Parker and Kari for inviting us to join you on such a beautiful day. Not only was it so exciting to witness your love and excitement for one another, but it was truly special to feel the support of everyone around you. You are loved beyond measure and we are so happy for you both!
