This beautiful location is famous for it’s orchards, coastal attractions, and breathtaking scenic beauty! It’s a gorgeous destination for couple’s wanting a wedding that feels different than Wisconsin, without a lot of travel. It also makes for a perfect three day getaway!
This weekend we headed up to Door County for Karly and Ian’s Yacht Club Wedding! We were so excited for the cool fall temps, changing colors, and the iconic Steel Bridge photo op! These two are always up for a trip or adventure together, so it felt only fitting that so many of their friends and family made an entire vacation out of their wedding- including us!
The morning of
While we spent our morning hiking the beautiful Cave Point, Karly and Ian had an early start to their day! The girls all hung out in a cozy AirBnB right on the water, while the guys went for a swim at Ian’s family lake house. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by his sweet best man who had everything organized and taken care of.. Ian was able to relax, take his time getting ready and enjoy his morning reconnecting with friends. When we met up with Karly and the girls they were all wearing coordinating robes. They were sitting around the dining room table laughing and curling each-other’s hair. In the hustle and bustle of getting ready, we paused to allow for a first look with her girls and a few sweet moments alone with her mom.
The Ceremony
When we arrived at The Yacht Club, eager and excited guests had already been seated on the open lawn near the waterfront. Knowing that Karly and Ian wanted a first look, we spread out to quickly find a spot that would offer them privacy. We snuck Karly out the side door where she was met by her groom. Their guests were none the wiser. During their ceremony they shared personal vows, and officially became Mr. and Mrs. Wulf right on the waterfront, exactly as they had hoped!
The Trolley
After, their wedding party boarded the trolley for some snacks, drinks and photo time! It was incredibly important to Karly that she get that classic Door County wedding photo under the steel bridge. With such a large wedding party, and half of them in heels I am so impressed that they fit across the rocks! There was a bit of struggle, but we managed and I am in love with the results. Bonus, none of us fell and the guys even managed to dance for a few goofy shots as well! As luck would have it, after waiting and waiting for the bridge to open, Karly’s plea was answered. A tall boat made it’s way through, and Karly’s epic photo wish was granted. Ian dipped and kissed her as the bridge parted above.
The Reception
When we returned to the Yacht Club, Dan from Elite Entertainment had guests seated and ready to welcome the newlyweds. Dinner was kicked off with a sentimental toast from Karly’s father that left our bride in tears. He brought both of his daughters up, encouraged them to hold hands and recited one of their childhood bedtime sayings one last time. Later in the evening, Ian’s dad surprised everyone by playing guitar and singing a song dedicated to the newlyweds! The two stood up to thank their loved ones, and Karly eagerly shouted “let’s get this party started!”. That set the tone for an evening of dancing, Old Fashioned’s, Moscow Mules, and fun!
Thank you both for including us in this special day. Though we had been to Door County before, this celebration was unique and we are so happy that it was everything you had been dreaming of! Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Wulf! Cheers!
