An edgy session near State Street and Campus
After a much deserved holiday break, we are back to senior features! This week showcases Kya, a spunky, fashionable Chilton Senior who deserves and award for most able to go with the flow! In Kya’s application to the senior rep team, she talked about her work volunteering at the animal shelter and her participation in her high school’s SHARE program, a program dedicated to working with children with different abilities. She talked about her sense of humor and her love for agriculture and animals. She told me that she loved meeting new people and talked about how excited she would be to be a part of the team! So naturally, she fell in perfectly with the rest!
Kya’s session took place near the UW Madison Campus (one of my favorite senior session locations). The historical architecture and well kept landscaping gives so much variety all within walking distance! After traveling all the way from Chilton, storm clouds rolled in just as we started shooting. By taking a few minutes to coach Kya through how to pose/where to stand we we’re able to take advantage of our small window of clear skies and captured the majority of her final images within the first 15 minutes of her session. She took no time at all to warm up to me, and within seconds we were all ready laughing and getting STUNNING shots. Then the rain hit…I had a few umbrellas along, but we were limited in where we could shoot without them since it quickly started to downpour. . I started to rack my brain for cool indoor locations, but much to my surprise, Kya grabbed an umbrella and rolled with the weather we were given and she ROCKED IT!!!! She had so much fun with it, and for a few minutes we all forgot how cold and wet it was! The rest of her session was spent running from building to building, shooting at locations I would have never thought of before. She handled her outfit changes and one minor eyelash malfunction like a total pro, and ended up with a gallery full of unique images.
Parents are always welcome to attend their senior’s session! It is not required, but most of my seniors who travel a great distance opt to bring someone along. After her shoot, here’s what Kya’s mom had to say: “I cannot say enough great things about Paige and how she handles her business. If you have any concerns at all, she goes the extra mile to make it right. My daughter’s photo shoot and finished pictures were incredible! Highly recommend Paige for all your photography needs!!”
Thank you both for such a great memory!
