Emily and Mark’s Madison Wedding at Blackhawk Country Club was nothing short of elegant, sweet and classy. The two began their wedding day getting ready amongst friends. Emily had carefully mapped out their morning, and had a beautifully organized itinerary laid out for all of us on custom stationary! She made sure to incorporate sentimental details like their handmade ring boxes and small memorial tokens of Mark’s late father, and thoughtfully placed them all together for us to capture!
Once the two we’re ready to say “I do”, we made our way to Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church aboard the cutest red trolley! Following not one, but FIVE flower girls, Emily walked down the aisle in a stunning classic gown. She was simply timeless, and took the breath away of so many of her guests. The two exchanged vows during a traditional Catholic ceremony, and left the church on cloud nine.
Next stop- the Madison, WI Capitol! A classic Madison portrait location- and one of Mark and Emily’s favorite landmarks. Their wedding party celebrated and cheered as the two walked the capitol for the first time as husband and wife, being congratulated by passerbyers every step of the way. Prior to heading back to the reception, we made one final stop- the iconic Wisconsin Memorial Union. What better way for an alumni to celebrate right?
When the trolley returned, guests we’re seated with specialty cocktails in hand for a grand entrance and cake cutting! Emily’s father and Mark’s uncle both toasted to the newlyweds, and everyone joined together in love and well wishes for the new couple. While guests finished dinner, we snuck off with Mark and Emily to capture a few intimate sunset portraits at Blackhawk’s breathtaking overlook!
Becca and Zach, the Matron of Honor and Best Man toasted the couple with heartfelt speeches that elicited chuckles and tears all around. My favorite parts of each were Emily’s sister referring to her as “Mark’s Wooh Girl” (see photo to prove!) and Zach describing Mark as his first wife! We found ourselves laughing and shaking off goosebumps throughout both. Mark closed the speaking portion of the evening with an emotional thank you to all of the friends and family who had shown their support throughout the past year.
Last but not least, a wedding gallery would not be complete without a round of first dances! The two sang and swayed with one another and opened up the dance floor for an evening that would turn out to be a wonderful time!
Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Van Den Broeke for including us in your day. It is always a unique and meaningful honor to witness such an incredible milestone for our couples. We so appreciate your thoughtfulness, vulnerability and overwhelming love for one another! Cheers to you!
